Understand the difference between wrapping a photo in SVG and real vector tracing.

Raster images and vectors are not identical

JPG stores colored pixels, while SVG commonly describes shapes and paths. Saving pixels inside an SVG image element creates a valid SVG file but does not make the picture infinitely sharp or editable as vector artwork.

When an SVG wrapper is useful

An embedded image SVG can be useful when another workflow requires an SVG container. It remains dependent on the original pixel resolution. Fulgendo’s browser converter uses this method and explicitly labels it as a wrapper, not as vectorization.

When you need true vector paths

For logos, icons and illustrations, a tracing application can produce actual paths. Results depend on edge quality, contrast and the complexity of the source. Expect to simplify contours manually; photographs generally cannot be converted into small, clean vector files without losing visual information.

Try the tool: JPG to SVG.
